One of the biggest reasons is to prevent possibility of lawsuits if someone is injured. Secondly, accidents cut down on working time. Third, merchandise and property can be damaged during accidents. Most accidents are attributed to employees who are not well trained. Employers are responsible for making certain that all workers who are utilizing the forklift are properly trained in safety and risks. Never let anyone on a forklift who isn't trained to operate the forklift. Your business must develop and post in a visible location all forklift safety measures.
Rather than going through training because employees are required to, they should have a positive attitude in doing so. You as the employer must help staff know the importance of correct training. Let them understand that they could injure or kill not only themselves, but other people, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to make sure that your employees go through training seriously.
