Forklift trucks are essential pieces of machinery utilized commonly in business, particularly within warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial plants. A forklift truck is constructed of hundreds of components, including the carriage, the cab, the power source, the wheels and the engine. Lift trucks generally have a variety of attachments also. The following are several of the most essential forklift parts.
Engine of the Forklift - the forklift truck is designed with a power source at the rear of the equipment. Different types of forklift truck have different types of engine which need varying power sources. For instance, a forklift with an IC engine can have any of the following as its power source: gasoline, diesel, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - The frame of the truck is the base of the lift truck and the most vital of all the lift truck parts. This forms the core of the equipment. All other forklift parts are attached to the base, like for instance the wheels, axles, mast overhead guard and counterweight. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks may be part of the frame assembly as well.
Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - While lifting heavy loads, the counterweight allows the equipment to be balanced. This particular component is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift provides balance and may function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Forklifts will sometimes have closed cabs whilst others will be open to the air. There are many components located within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such essential components as the seats, pedals, levers, switches, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard has operator readouts.
