Forklift Tire Specs
Since 1917, essential tools used in industry and commercial businesses are forklifts. Throughout its history the forklift has changed through different kinds, from a basic tractor with a platform attachment to a specialized high-tech machine. Forklift tires have also evolved into specialized tires, with different kinds designed to suit particular applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of solid polyurethane or rubber and is suitable for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is pressed or binded onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for different load capacities. Cushion tires are usually used within warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with foam or air. They come in two kinds: bias or radial. Depending on the application, they are offered with different sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires that are filled with foam are less prone to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are normally utilized outdoors on rough, uneven surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
Solid Pneumatic Hybrid tires combine the puncture resistance of a solid tire with the comfortable ride of a pneumatic tire. They are a good option to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Used on wheel loader forklifts are big rubber tires which can either be foam, solid or pneumatic. These kinds of tires are suitable for loading and moving heavy items onto trucks or into processing machines. Large flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts usually utilized at lumberyards, construction locations and auto recyclers.
