Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to pile up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck is available in several models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This version consists of telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This version is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Often more than one kind of reach truck is needed inside warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and can increase production while maximizing available storage space.
