Forklift Classifications
Below are the classes of forklifts which describe the application and fuel option of each type of forklift. Certification is really necessary for each and every class of forklift which the operator will be utilizing.

Class 1 - Electric Motor Rider Trucks
These forklifts come with either cushion or pneumatic tires. Pneumatic tires are suggested during dry conditions for outdoor use. The cushion tired models are designed for smooth, indoor surfaces. These are electrically powered vehicles which use industrial batteries, which make them desirable in closed environments where air quality is a concern. Travel and hoist functions are controlled by transistor motor controllers. These are versatile units commonly utilized everywhere from the loading dock to the storage facility.

Class 2 - Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks
For the kind of environment where narrow aisles should be negotiated, this particular kind of forklift is suitable. They are effective at making the most of storage space. Their unique design makes them perfect for small spaces and where speed is required.

Class 3 - Electric Motor Hand or Hand-Rider Trucks
These are hand-controlled and battery-powered models. Using a steering tiller, the operator could operate the lift while standing in front of the truck. The tiller has controls mounted on top and is moved sideways to steer the vehicle. The smaller capacity units use industrial batteries.
